Dec. 11, 2017 – This week House and Senate members will struggle to figure out how to reconcile differences in the horrendous Tax Scam! (Here’s background from Indivisible on how bills are ‘reconciled’ between House and Senate.)
So this is the week to drown Congress in calls!
Let’s keep up the pressure on Congress with calls, calls, calls reminding them how horrible these bills are for Americans.
The more time passes, the more people learn about the bills, the more upset and angry they become. Watch this short video. (CLICK HERE)
On top of existing provisions that would slash health care coverage for 13 million people and open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling, the bill would also force a $25 billion cut to Medicare next year, and hike taxes on about half of all Americans.
Over 60 events in more than 40 states; more than 650,000 calls House and Senate members are telling Congress that the public hates this plan!
Here’s a list (CLICK HERE) of vulnerable House members and how they voted on the tax package. You know what to do!
Here’s the script Not One Penny organizers use:
Hello, my name is NAME and I’m calling from CITY, STATE. I’m calling today in regards to the Republican tax bill. Is the tax staff member in your office available to speak with me right now?
[CONTINUE ON REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE TAX STAFFER IS AVAILABLE TO SPEAK]
As I hope you know, the tax code is already rigged in favor of millionaires, billionaires, and corporate insiders — they don’t need any more giveaways. And that’s exactly what the Republican tax bill is: a massive tax giveaway to the rich. Not one penny in tax cuts should go to the wealthy! It’s that simple.
We need to fight for a tax code that makes the economy work better for families like mine. Even more tax breaks for the super rich will undermine our commitment to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and make it impossible to invest in the middle class.
Will the REPRESENTATIVE/SENATOR commit to not one penny in tax cuts for the rich?
[WAIT FOR ANSWER]
Great, thank you so much for your support!
I hope (s)he will reconsider. We need an economy that works for everyone and that means not one penny in tax cuts for the rich.
