June 18 | Legal Observer Training

What? Join the Kentucky Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild for a Legal Observer Training led by civil rights attorney Will York to gain the skills and knowledge needed to support the activist community’s safe exercise of its First Amendment rights of free speech and protest.

Why? Legal Observers (LOs) do not participate in protests or actions. Instead, LOs serve three main purposes: (1) they document police misconduct if it occurs; (2) they serve as a deterrent to police misconduct; and (3) they connect any protesters who get arrested to larger mass defense legal efforts. We need LOs now more than ever.

When? Sunday, June 18, 2017, 2 to 4 p.m.

Where? Glassworks Building, 815 W. Market Street, Louisville, KY

What else do I need to know? Register for the training by Friday, June 16 by emailing nlgky@protonmail.com. Questions can be directed to the same address.
